I got a new guinea pig :D

I got a new guinea pig on Thurs(14th). He was a surprise to me from my brother. He is very, very sweet boy and loves to be petted on top of the head. I brought him to the vets yesterday as he had black gunk in his ears, white flakes around his eyes and a broken tooth. Turns out he is low in VitC, which is why he has the dry skin around the eyes and more than likely why the tooth broke. He also has matted hair on his belly so I will have to cut that in a few days. Oh and he has ear mites even though hes not scratching but I have to pick up ear mites treatment next week.

Hes not eating well,he came with no changeover food or no idea on which veggies he is used to(which i dont think there is) and no food bowl/water bottle which he would be used to. He ate a small amount frid night, somemore yesterday but only a SMALL amount of kale this morning. Hes drinking a bit now aswell.

He hasnt met my other male yet, not untill his ear mites are treated. I will be waiting till I get the c&c cage so I can half it down the middle so they can see eachother then.

I dont know what age he is either. Oh and he doesnt have a name so any suggestions please tell me LOL.

* Were did your brother get him? And when you first get a gpig the are nervis and tend not to eat at first. Gradualy, he will.

Yah, I know they can be nervous but the vet said it could also be because he isnt used to the food bowl, she said it would be best if they ave the food bowl with him and that could be the problem. But he'll be ok, hes in good hands

I am unsure of his breed mix he is. I am thinking a abyruvian or a sheba mini yaks!
I knew I was getting a guinea pig but I though it was after i get my cage, but my brother saw he needed a home and got him for me.

He didnt eat a whole lot today though nor last night, just a small amount of the pellets. gave him some fresh veggies there so he may eat them during the night! Will see in the morning! Fingers crossed!

It's a very good idea to keep him quarantine until he gets better; hopefully his ears clear up soon!

Is he getting vitamin C injections? Also, it might take him a while to get used to veggies; Piggies are reluctant to try anything they never had as babies.

Yeah, it's really disapointing that people don't take there gpigs into consideration! One of m new gpigs (Bella) won't eat veggies, but Milla does.

His tooth has grown fully back, he is eating pellets and loads of hay and a good bit of veggies. Still not a whole lot though but hes improving.

No, Im not giving him vitC injections, we were only going to do that if he didnt eat or if the dry skin around the eyes got worse. He is getting vitC in his pellets and in sum veggies. The dry skin around the eyes has improved too. I do have some vitC drops I will sirange feed him if he needs it but he doesn't.

He met Chester a few days ago in a playpen! They are okish together. I am getting my coroplast before friday (when ever they deliver) and i have the cubes to make the cage
