I was holding Roy earlier and I felt a lump on his back. I haven't noticed this before but I don't hold him very often so I don't know how long its been there. I'm going to try and take him to the vets on Wednesday, please keep your fingers crossed that its nothing bad and just a fatty lump

Yeah, I think the vet is the best thing to do. Very Happy I am keeping my fingers crossed, but I know somone that had a guinea pig that had a bump and it turned out to be a tumor. Let's all hope it's not though. Very Happy

Could be a cyst, or an abcess. Fingers crossed it is!

But, can I ask if there's a reason you don't hold him very often?

No there's no reason why I dont hold him very often, he's really friendly but I just sit next to his run and he comes to me to be stroked and fed dandelions. I'm a bit weird, I can sit and watch the guinea-pigs for hours but don't really hold them much. I should hold them more really to check for these things.

I sit for hours watching and playing with my piggies and I am always holding my piggies maily because I love holding them, but overall it's very important to hold your piggies. Very Happy

I hold them about once every 2 weeks to check them over and I hold Edie every day to brush her.

I'm going on holiday at the end of this month and my neighbour is looking after my guinea-pigs, and because I don't want to have to ask her to brush Edie because she's already doing a lot for my guinea-pigs, I've decided to cut her hair short so it won't need brushing.

That's a good idea. I'm pretty sure I'd be always cutting it's hair. lol!

Poor Edie gets the worst hair cuts. I know nothing about cutting hair, but when it was really hot here a few weeks ago I thought I should get some of her hair off to keep her cool, so I was cutting it and it wasn't even or straight and most of it stuck up for a few weeks it was rubbish. Poor Edie but she looked hilarious :lol3:

That reminded me of the time my cousin got a guinea pig and as it grew it's hair got longer and he doesn't like long haired piggies so I cut it for him and it's hair was sticking up and I ended up makig him very cute! I'm not a big fan on long haired piggies either, but Iv always wanted one. Very Happy May I ask you how you though of Edie if it's a girl? Very Happy LOL

I didn't name her, her previous owner named her Edie and I just thought it suited her so it stuck. I got her when she was 1 year old and she'd already got used to the name, she looks up and wheeks when someone says Edie Laughing Yes she's a girl, its spelt like Eddie which makes her sound like a boy but its pronounced like Edieee Laughing Her owner had her and her 2 sisters, Martha, Edie and Dora, and they said they wanted to keep Dora and Martha looked just like Edie so in the end I just said I don't mind, you choose and they gave me Edie. I felt a bit sad for her because she'd lived with her sisters ever since they were babies, but I think she likes being with Marmalade and Amber Smile
