Has anyone got a rabbit?
I love rabbits and I'd love to get one but at the moment I can't but I want to get as much information on them as I can so hopefully I can get one in the future.
If you have a rabbit do you think they are good pets? Do they dig a lot? What breed/gender is best for a first time owner?

Re: Has anyone got a rabbit?
I have two rabbits,(but may have to rehome them), and the first thing I'd like to say is, do not keep them with guinea pigs. I don't know if you knew that, but it's really not a good idea to keep them together.
General info I can think of right now, is both genders need to be desexed at around six months. This is because, if they are not breed, they tend to get very hormonal, and, well, bad-tempered! There are exceptions, but even so, it's still best to de-sex them anyway, as it cuts down the chance of health problems. They require unlimited hay, just like guinea pigs, supplimented with veggies and rabbit pellets. Some rabbits do dig, sometimes out of boredom, but usually not that much. They are fairly easy to litter train, and make great indoor pets. Mine free-range my room. Some rabbits do best alone, but most enjoy fellow rabbit company. As for gender, I don't have girls, so I don't know personally, but I don't think there's a huge difference; since you have to de-sex them anyway, you could have one of each!

Thank you I wouldn't keep them with my guinea-pigs, I know how bad that can be.
